Anna Paratore - Bianca


Anna is grateful to be working with NYSX again after performing in their production of Island, or To Be or Not To Be as Major Bellows! She recently appeared The Photo Album (The Brick’s Game Play Festival). Other NY credits include Hero, Much Ado about Nothing (Roundtable Productions) Maria in Love’s Labour’s Lost (Drilling Company) and various staged reading with the Fundamental Theater Company, noticeably as Corie in Barefoot in the Park. She is a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Thanks to everyone related to me and to everyone else who feels like they’re related.


Anna Van Valin* - Desdemona



Most recently, Anna appeared in The Degradation Play with Rising Phoenix Rep and numerous New York Madness pieces. Additional credits include Primary Stages, Atlantic Theater Co., Theatre for a New Audience, Trinity Rep, and CAPS LOCK Theatre. In 2012 Anna wrote, directed and starred in the award-winning short film Take it Off. She’s a proud member of Actors Equity, New York Women in Film and Television, and is the Head of the New York Madness Acting Company. She holds a BFA from NYU (Stella Adler, RADA) and an MFA from Brown Univ./Trinity Rep. Thanks to Ginger Eckert. Dedicated to her brave, beautiful Mom.


Anthony Manna* - Brabantio

Carey Van Driest* - Emilia


National Tours:  Annie (Grace Farrell).  New York:  Reckless (Rachel), The Winter’s Tale (Paulina) and The Tempest (Arial) with Sonnet Repertory Theatre.  The Importance of Being Earnest, Arms and the Man Selected Regional:  Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Mae) and Much Ado About Nothing (Ursula/Verges) at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Denver Center Theatre, Alabama Shakespeare Festival and others.  Film:  A Family Dinner (Cannes Short Film Corner Screening and Select Film Festivals Award Winner).  Television:  House of Cards (Reporter).  Her voiceover work for international documentaries, national commercials, animation and radio can be heard at Hear her as a Howler Monkey named Avelina in the upcoming animated feature Ribbit (2014) with Tim Curry and Sean Astin.  Fluent French Speaker, Badass Chick, Shakespeare Aficionado, Carole King Wannabe and Proud Member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA.


Danny Rivera* - Montano


Danny is very excited to work once again with the New York Shakespeare Exchange. Previously on the NYSX stage, Danny has been seen performing Sonnet 106 for The Sonnet Project, in a ShakesBEER pub crawl, and in the staged readings of Romeo & Juliet and Spring's Awakening. In between working with NYSX, Danny's worked with The Flea Theater (where he was a Bat, a member of their resident acting company), with Columbia University's MFA program, and with New Perspectives Theatre. Before Danny moved back to his native New York in 2011, he studied English and Theater at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. 


David Lapkin* - Lodovico

Picture David is very excited to be working with Shakespeare Exchange again, after previously appearing in staged readings of Island and Much Ado About Nothing, as well as performing in the film of Sonnet 133 for The Sonnet Project. A graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, some of his other shows include Black Snow (Yale Rep Theater), Measure for Measure (Pearl Theatre Company) and For Those Of Us Who Have Lived in France (Blue Coyote Theater Company). His voice was also heard on cartoons such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kirby: Right Back At Ya!, and Pokemon. Thanks to Cristina and Ross for this opportunity.


David Price - Roderigo

Picture This is David's first production with New York Shakespeare Exchange. He has previously appeared in productions at Manhattan Repertory Theatre, Actor's Shakespeare Company, New Light Theatre Project, Dallas Theatre Center, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Theatre Three, and was most recently an understudy for The Pearl Theatre Company's production of You Never Can Tell. This is David's third production of Othello in the last two years, so he's glad that it's his favorite of Shakespeare's plays. He is a native of Dallas, Texas and received a BFA in Theatre from SMU.

John St. Croix - Ensemble

Picture John attended Coastal Carolina University, graduating with a degree in Dramatic Arts. He has worked with several regional theatres across the East Coast, including The Berkshire Theatre Festival, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey and The Virginia Shakespeare Festival. Most recently he was seen as Borachio in Much Ado About Nothing with Underling Productions in Astoria Park.



Josh Jeffers - Cassio

Picture Josh is excited to be back working with New York Shakespeare Exchange once again. He was last seen as Lewis, the Dauphin of France in their production of The Life and Death of King John.  Other New York credits include The Taming of the Shrew (Hamptons Shakespeare Festival) and The Rover (New York Classical Theatre).


Katherine Puma* - Duke of Venice


Kat is thrilled to be working with NYSX and Dame Cristina again, having previously appeared in Haunted ShakesBEER and Apocrypha Now: Mucedorus & Comedy of Errors.  She most recently appeared as Anna in Burn This in Tokyo.  Other credits include: US Tour, Off-Broadway and NYC: Taming of the Shrew; Othello; Pudd’nhead Wilson; The Three Musketeers (The Acting Company); Candide, Arturo Ui (CSC). Hamlet.  Regional: Blithe Spirit, (Riverside Theatre); Anna Christie (ELTC); As You Like It; Tartuffe (Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival); Dancing at Lughnasa (Hilton Head Playhouse).  TV: Law & Order: SVU, CI, & TBJ; and  Thanks to dear friends and family.


Matthew Velez - Ensemble

Matthew is a graduate of AMDA: American Musical and Dramatic Academy Studio program and is trained in many weapons for stage combat such as broadsword, rapier and dagger, single sword, quarter staff and unarmed. Credits Include: Leo in The Next Room, Ellard in The Foreigner, Demetrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sampson in Romeo and Juliet, and Brain Petrov in Prophets of Providence.


Terence MacSweeny - Iago


Terry is absolutely thrilled to be making his debut with New York Shakespeare Exchange. Recent rolls include: Leontes in The Winter's Tale, MacDuff in Macbeth, and Eli Calibri in Font of Knowledge. Terence has worked at Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Classic Stage Company, Summer Theatre of New Canaan, The Cherry Lane, The Connelly and The Pearl Theatre Company.  Terence graduated from Columbia University's School of the Arts with his MFA in Acting in 2007.   Thanks to Ross, Cristina, Alfredo, and everyone at NYSX.
